So Much
to Be Thankful For
This November,
the team at Park Place Village has so many things to be
thankful for, including each and every one of you, our
wonderful residents! We hope that you have been
blessed throughout this year as well. Let's get
together and share our good fortune with a Thanksgiving
buffet on November 26th at 4:30 p.m. in the dining room.
Join us for a delicious turkey dinner with all the
trimmings and a special time with all your friends and
neighbors. If you'd like, invite your family to
join us. They'll need to R.S.V.P. by November
11th, and they can attend for the low cost of $5 per
guest. Please don't miss out on this chance to see
just how thankful we are that you're here!

Happy Birthday November Babies!
Here we are in
November, the eleventh month of the year. The
first five letters spell the Latin word novem, or
"nine," and this month was originally the ninth month of
the year in the Roman calendar. For those of you
born during this month, your primary birthstone is
topaz, which symbolizes good luck and loyalty.
This stone was once believed to give strength and to
change colors to warn of danger or poison. The
flower for the month is the chrysanthemum, which
signifies cheerfulness, optimism, truth and friendship.
The team at Park Place Village would like to wish a
happy birthday to all our residents and staff members
born in November. We hope your day is truly
spectacular. Happy Birthday, November babies!

Clocking in
and Turning Back
Most of the U.S.A. will "fall back" for Daylight
Saving Time on the first Sunday in November. On
that morning, clocks from coast to coast will be set
back one hour. Don't forget to put your own
timepieces is reverse, too.

PPV
Community Living
The staff wants to thank you for choosing Park Place
Village as your new home. As you know, it's
important for all of us to get along as best as
possible. Community living is like having a large
family. We all have responsibilities to make sure
we have a happy environment. It is important to
attend the resident council meetings on the first
Wednesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. in the Activity
Room. The next meeting is on November 5th.At
the last resident council meeting:
- Please return all dishes and cups to the dining
room, if you have used any in your room.
- Don't take the napkins in the coffee shop for
personal use.
- Pam shops on Mondays, if you need tissue or
paper towels.
- We discussed the shortage of paper towels and
were told that there will always be a back-up case
from now on.
- A couple of residents put in a special request
for their table settings.
- The kitchen was asked to clean coffee mugs and
coffee carafes more thoroughly.

Hearts
of Gold
What kind of person does it take to put his or her
life on the line for out country? A person of
valor and dedication. Veterans Day, Nov. 11th,
praises military service members, past and present, for
contributing to our national security. We are much
obliged to you, veterans. Your hard work saves
lives all over the world.

Avoid
the Winter Cold and Flu
Cold and flu
season can begin as early as October and usually ends in
April. While there is no sure-fire cure for the
common cold, you can take certain steps to help reduce
your chances of getting sick in the first place, such as
getting a flu shot. You can also use a number of
natural strategies. Following these steps may
improve your overall heath and provide and extra layer
of flu and cold protection:
- Eat a well-balanced diet
with plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, as
well as foods with immune-boosting nutrients, such as
ginger, vitamin C, zinc and lactobacillus (the bacteria
in yogurt).
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water.
- Drink water to stay hydrated.
- Exercise regularly to increase your body's natural
immunity.
- Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol, both of which
lower your resistance to infection.

Romance?
Karl and Milly were just lying in bed one night.
Karl was falling asleep, but Milly was in a romantic
mood and wanted to talk. She said, " You used to
hold my hand whenwe were courting."Wearily, Karl
reached across, held her hand for a second and rolled
over to try to fall asleep.
A few moments later she said, "Then you used to kiss
me."
Mildly irritated, he leaned across, gave her a peck
on the cheek and settled back down to sleep.
Thirty seconds later she said, "Then you used to bite
my neck."
Angrily, he threw back the bedclothes and got out of
bed.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"To get my damn teeth," he replied.
